Why I make sure I schedule time to rest and what rules I have learned to live by.

November never disappoints. I am grateful for all the business that I have received, for all the recognition my business has gotten over the last couple of months. It is truly amazing. Thank you for the continued love and support.

I left this week open to rest. Rest is something I did not do often enough when I was in the restaurant industry. I took on too much, was not always given the help I needed and truth be told, 10 years in, I was burned out. Beyond burned out. I was no longer enjoying what I was doing, I was physically and mentally exhausted. I was not sure what my next steps would be, but I needed a change, a big change.

I promised myself that once I got back on track, I would not let myself get to that point again. Lots of tears, confusion, therapy, a trip to Bali and a LOT of challenges that have taught me so many lessons, I feel like myself again.

I can tell I am back on track because I am happier than I have ever been, I have learned the most about myself through other people. They may not ever realize how much my life has been affected by them or what lessons they have taught me, but I promise the lessons are invaluable.

3 rules I now live by:

  1. Have fun and enjoy moments more- going through the motions of life is not ok if you are not enjoying them. I left my full time pastry chef job at the Cleveland Museum of Art and took a part time job at Starbucks. I rested, reset my mind and started to realize how much work I had to do to change my life.

  2. Travel often- the world is wide and there are tons of pastry shops I still need to get to all over the world:) Bali, Paris, Costa Rica- OH MY. I have always loved the idea of traveling but rarely did it on my own. Traveling with Bernie is fun, fantastic and always joyful.

  3. I am braver than I believed, stronger than I thought and I am a passionate unstoppable badass baker. Once I started taking responsibility for my actions, good, bad, and ugly, things started to change for the better. My views, my surroundings, my business, my life.

Always be sure to take time to rest, reflect and make any necessary adjustments in your life. Everyone struggles (even though their social media may not reflect them).
